Front Left (I believe) Noise 2000 Teg LS

Hey so hear is the situation before I take it to my mechanic... Lately when I leave the car parked for a while and start driving, @ about 40KMs or so there is this metal rubbing sound
grr...grrr...grr...grr the faster I go the faster the sound... Now, after a couple minutes pass by the sound is totally gone. even when I stop and start again its gone.... But only comes back when I stop/park up the car for any extended amount of time... Bearing? Rotor? Rotor sheild? I Jacked up my car had it in neutral reved it up no rubbing or grinding sound/noise whatsoever. Engaged the gear and took it up to 40kms I think or so no noise? Must it be under load?

Any insight would help...

I'd rather no end up buying parts for things that work if you know what i mean!

Thx R

Brakes. Just sitting makes them do that.. Its nothing to worry about from what i can say.

Nawaaz 01-21-2009 03:31 PM

Yea, brakes, im almost 100% sure, I guess its because of the cold, and they are just warming up, what kind of brakes do you have on your car?

Ravell 01-21-2009 03:32 PM

Sounds like metal to metal. I'll try to record the sound...

The front wheel should be able to spin nice and freely right? A bit of resitance on the driver side which I think where the problem is... Siezed caliper?
I dunno will take them off! This weekend...

Ravell 01-21-2009 04:25 PM

pads not retracted so i assume slider or piston problem...

BestodaBest 01-21-2009 05:22 PM

Does the car pull to the left?

irsdb7 01-21-2009 08:25 PM

sounds like a seizing caliper and /or slider pins

Ravell 01-23-2009 12:08 PM

Bestodabest no pulling to left or right

non-VTEC 01-23-2009 05:54 PM

that sound is a brake problem. my mom's civic was doing that as well.

have the front brakes checked/replaced/serviced.
