Engine Maintenance Light Flashes During Start Up

Calling all technical gurus. My Engine Maintenance Light Flashes During Start Up but doesn't stay on when the car is running. What does this mean? Am I throwing a code or not? Any help would be appreciated.

maint req'd means your car is fucked and it will blow up....

j/k ... change the oil. it's a 12,000k reminder light to change the oil and perform regular maintenence. the reset button is underneath the steering column.

Since you have an OBD2 ECU, you need a scan tool to determine the issue. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

you're thinking of the CEL.. the Maint Req'd is scheduled to light up at every 12000k.

Correct. Maintenance Required, not Check Engine Light. Had a quick look at lunch but couldn't find the reset button. I'll check again later.

It's a idiot light, nothing is wrong with your car.

Just reset it buy holding down the button, while starting your car. Light gone.

Oh the button is right underneath the dash to the right of the steering column. You can press it just be reaching underneath, while still sitting in ur seat.

Just a quick question guys. I had the light come on before and it was because the oil needed to be changed. I did the oil change and rest the light. Is it normal for the light to come on for about one second when u start the car and then go away?

WildoutWhiteGSR 07-10-2005 10:21 AM

Yes

Platinum Playa 07-10-2005 10:23 AM

if u don't release the light, it will eventually stay on while you drive, honestly its nothing just a regular reminder. if you had a problem your Engine light would come on not maintenance.

95integra 07-15-2005 05:17 PM

check engine light..the yellow light..check your 02 sensor.

For the maintenace..just reset it..n leave it

gsr rudebwoi 07-22-2005 11:07 PM

I change my own oil so I didn't know one had to reset it. I found the button. That process is kinda fucked up. Anywayz, Thanks for the help crew.

like the other guys said, all you have to do is press the button.which is to the right of the steering column, when you start the car. itll flash every 9k or so to remind you to do maintence and stay on steady every 12k to make you do certain maintenace. i always shut mine off myself and then do whatever is required when you get a chance. its no big deal.

Kadafi 07-23-2005 10:06 AM

not a big issue, mines' been on for the last month or so, gotta re-set it soon :D

You guys are a bunch of ------- morons. If you can't get past the "maint reqd" light you should drive a Plymouth Volare.
