EG civic help!

i know some of your here are mechanics or what not, and most of you owned or still have a civic so you might of had the same problems that i have or atleast know what im talking about . 1992 dx hb

k here we go, when i got the car off an old man, (just saying that so ppl know it hasnt been ass raped, and i am now the second owner) the car sat in his driveway for about 7 8 months without being turned on, the thermostat was stuck or broken w.e,,, didnt have time to get a new one and change it, so i drove it the way it is for the time being! the problem was, when you left the car running and didnt drive it! it warms up and gives hot air no problem!, but once you start driving it gets cold again! doesnt take rocket science to know that your thermostat is gone! so i changed it, and flushed the rad, NOWW it over heats!!!??? when you turn it on it warms up the heat works no problem, but as soon as you start driving for like a couple of minutes it burns up, so i thinking maybe i got the wrong thermostat, i take it out, and buy an oem one!, same problem, okayy maybe the rad, take that out buy a brand new one.. still same problem,,, right now i just checked when it over heats no more heat comes out of the blowers, and under the driver seat, well not seat were the mats are, its wet, i open the rad no antifreeze in there???
my question is,, is the antifreeze leaking into my heater core and that i have a cracked head?, what do i do? and where do i start?

If it is wet inside the car, it sounds like the heater core is leaking, plus with you changed the parts, did you bleed out the air in the cooling system before putting the rad cap back on. You very well could have cracked the head, but I would more then likely say the head gasket would go before the head would crack.

Bad heater core, sorry bra

but i get leaks under the driver sides, heater core is on the passengers side. and yeah thats what im thinking it is,the gaskets, but to do the gaskets on a 92civic i might as well just drop a new motor in there

i had a leak in the same spot, but mine was a small rust spot that cracked opened by the hood hinge which made it leak into the same spot. check other stuff as well.

i think the water pump is leaking, can that be why im over heating?, and spike i think your right, i think its a cracked head. fml.

does your fan turn on? does the temp needle pass half way on the gauge? any white smoke coming out the exhaust?

2soonJR 02-10-2010 10:52 AM

the fan turns on when the car is running good, and the needle stays a little under half way point, and once it starts running bad white smoke comes out, thats when your parked, when driving the needle plays up and down, and after like 5 6 minutes of driving the needle is on max hot, and there is clouds of toxic smoke behind me. i got something from canadian tire i forgot what its called, its for cracked heads, i put it in and it seems to be running fine, but again i drive it once ot twice every week, and maybe 3 4km distance so not really sure if it did help or not?
