E-test/safety on fully built gt30r b18c5
 

car is 95 eg hatch, FULLY gutted!, currently JRSC'd at 6psi (anyone interested in JRSC complete setup, tuned chip (neptune), with w/i kit for CHEAP, pm me)
Getting my engine/head fully built (83mm benson sleeved 9:1 CPs etc.) this winter for a gt3076r setup (ramhorn, 3" dp, 3" exhaust, open dumptube off wg, dyno tuned) for the spring.
My car has not been on the road before (track only) and I am wanting to get it on the road next spring.
I will need to get it e-tested, and was wondering if it will pass with this setup.
I will have a catch can, and get a cat for the e-test, but will this be enough for it to pass?
(I know wbout the methyl hydrate or whatever its called stuff, but don't want to put that into my freshly built motor if don't need to...)

Also wondering what i need to pass safety/be legal for the street. car is fully gutted/cage, no door panels/airbags, battery relocated to back, canadian ITR dash swap... as long as tires are DOT, they are legal for the street?

For e-test, you'll definitely need a cat. Maybe consider an as close to stock exhaust system as possible. New oil, filters, things like that to have the engine run cleaner will help.

For the safety, google MTO safety checklist and you'll find what you need. You'll need to satisfy the conditions stated there and you'll be golden.

Provided you didn't register the car as a track car.. because if you did then you're never putting it on Canadian roads legally.

I highly doubt you'll be able to register that legally. Unless you find someone who is not very strickt. Chances are youre going to need to find someone to do it under the table for you.

had a 10 day permit on it and insurance when i bought it a couple years back, drove it around for the 10 days, decided not to put it on the road and just use it as my auto-x, 1/4 mile etc. car, so i never got it safetied/e-tested. and no i didn't register it as a track car.

i saw this part in the safety checklist:
"no exhaust system shall be shortened or modified from original equipment so as to fail to direct the exhaust beyond the underbody of the occupant compartment or luggage compartment"

would this mean no open dumptube?

what exactly are you basing this on? If you could be more specific, that would help.

A good tuner can help you pass the etest. This ofcourse will not give you the most power out of your setup but it would benefit. Most people retard the timing to help on the etest slightly. Now with a turbo setup i would not mess around with timing if you are making serious power. Also, no open dump tube is allowed. It must be routed into your downpipe before your cat. Keep in mind a big exhaust piping will not create high enough velocity with gases which will not heat up the cat enough. So i would say do not go any bigger than 2.5" in/out on the cat since this will reduce the effectiveness of the cat.

You mentioned that you will have a catch can set up, make sure its not vented into the atmosphere and is routed back into the pre-turbo intake pipe. Otherwise, as long as all lights/swiches/handles work in the car, it should be fine for safety. I noticed you have roll bars, I believe you require to have rear seats with seat belts in good condition. All seatbelts must be OEM and no aftermarket harnesses. If the roll bars are not in the way of back seat passenger heads, just throw those in and you should be good.
