door locks

hey guys just wondering if there is any solution to this:

i have a 98 integra and when your sitting on the inside of the car with the doors closed i was just wondering if there is a way to physically lock the doors. i cannot seem to get them locked and im assuming its some sort of feature.

now i googled it and it said honda did this as a means of protecting you from locking your self out...
well what about the safety of the driver or occupants.
it says there is some sort of mechanism that prevents you from locking the doors while inside the car.

now i wana know if anyone has altered this and taken off the "safety" mechanism that prevents this from locking. if anyone has done it or knows how to can you let me know.

thanks guys any help is appriciated!

Try doing this lift the door handle a bit and then slide it to the lock position.

Does this also happen when the door is open?

it does it 24/7 even if u pull up on door handle. sometimes just sometimes passenger side will work. but you cannot lock the doors from the inside. google it acurate and youll see. i just need to know how to remove the son of a bitch

I believe there is a mechanism for it.
It may be the actuators that come with the security system that does that. My old teg did that, it had an aftermarket alarm...then again it was an LS so im not sure if it was a part of the power locks feature. You may be able to just remove those actuators. But you'll loose the power locks.

My new teg is an RS, therefore no power locks. And I can unlock it anytime without the lock jamming.

my teg is an rs too. it only has the hatch switch witch controls the hatch actuator. but when i get out of the car and i use the key i can hear the driver door and hatch actuators locking, so they do work just not inside the car. is it easy to remove this "lock mechanism"??

if you got an RS you will hear the hatch close, because when you turn the key the metal that is right beside the door lock hits two wires which in turn send a signal to the hatch to lock.

Like I say I have and always had the same problem but as long as the handle is pulled it should work. Do you have an aftemarket alarm put on it might be something around the door jam that is enabling you to lock it from the inside.

no alarm man, just a fu*ked up lock. i need to fix this ----.
drivin me absolutely nuts..

So there is actuators. Meaning theyre aftermarket. Try to take them out. You may have a faulty one. Like i said, some actuators keep it from doing it from the inside. If you had a faulty lock it probably would be giving you issues from the outside as well. This could be a security feature that prevents theives from jimmying it open or something.

Is there not supposed to be actuators in an rs model. The car when I bought it was bone stock and I never added a door lock actuator kit so I have no clue why there would be one in there.
When I use the key to lock the doors I do hear an actuator. Now weather or not its the hatch actuator it still sounds like there is one in the drivers door. Maybe not though, if the rs models don't come with power locks in the doors then I must be hearing the hatch.

Vida he doesn't have the door lock actuator. He just has one for the hatch. That's what he is hearing it's also combined with the power windows. It has to be something mechanical the metal arm/latch might be getting caught on something when the door is closed. What I would suggest is to take of the door panel and just look at the metal arms moving and see if you can see anything.
