Any advice will be greatly appricated. And maybe throw some other colours out there that could work with the car.

Bring them here brotha. Well get those rims done in a day. I got all the ---- to do it aswell. Plus ur lip is here

Spike 05-03-2010 06:53 PM

Just get some sand paper, and just sand all the chips so they are smooth and the the paint is all sanded down. As well as you'll need some primer to prime all the bare metal with primer, and then you can just paint the rims what ever color you want, as well as clear them. Here's a list of stuff you'll need. I have done them for people in the pass before for friends and customers at work. I normally would charge $100 for a set of 4 rims.

Sand paper:
-240 grit
-400 grit
-600 grit

-Primer
-Paint color of your choice in spray cans x2
-Clear coat in spray cans x2
-A roll of masking tape

JDM_overdose 05-03-2010 06:55 PM

What about paint stripper. Those rims he has have some mean thick paint on them.

Spike 05-03-2010 06:57 PM

You don't need all the paint taken off them. the old paint acts as a primers for the metal.

JDM_overdose 05-03-2010 06:59 PM

Your right. I guess it comes down to what people prefer.

AcuratePaul 05-03-2010 07:06 PM

I would bring them down to you anthony but i wanna tackle something myself...

But the nicks on these are super deep in some spots but ill do my best to even them out as best i can.

Spike 05-03-2010 07:15 PM

Start with the lower grid to get those chips down fast, so start with 240, and then go to 400 and then 600.

If you want some help doing them Paul, you can come over on Saturday and I'll help you do them here at my place.

AcuratePaul 05-03-2010 07:18 PM

This will be something ill do maybe this weekend or when the girlfriend leaves for 3 weeks to Europe :(

Spike 05-03-2010 07:44 PM

Cool. If you want my help just let me know.

AcuratePaul 05-03-2010 07:47 PM

No Problem :) - thanks.

my brother and i did 2 sets of rims ( my winters and his stock altima rims) we pretty much did what spike said. sand it with those grits, for the inner part of the rim where all that brake gunk ends up with used a steal brush with the drill attachment and cleaned it up nicely, after u sand it we would wipe the rims down with paint thinner, prime them with 2 coats and then paint them with bout 2-3 coats of paint oh and we used clearcoat to give it a nice shine. we got all the paint materials from canadian tire as they have rim paint and primer for metal

heres a pic of the altima rims that we did over the winter, it took about 3 days of good work hope it helps

JDM_overdose 05-03-2010 07:54 PM

How about spike n paul, come to my house. well tackle a rim each.

Spike 05-03-2010 07:56 PM

I'm not going to your place to do them, when I can do them at my place, and not have to drive 45 minutes each way, lol.

JDM_overdose 05-03-2010 07:57 PM

lol. but its fun. and we can go on that cruise we have to go on for the map.

AcuratePaul 05-03-2010 08:13 PM

thanks danny ya the steps sound right. those rims on the altima look great im not looking for perfection but i'll try my best, and i was thinking of using the steel brush to make it even quicker.

Thanks Anthony and Jason but this is something i wanna try.

Now i just need some cheap tires after im done to mount them on the rims lol.

JDM_overdose 05-03-2010 08:14 PM

AcuratePaul 05-03-2010 08:26 PM

Ill give you some Poly Supa strippa (paint stripper), and steel wool brand new for like....15? I think it goes for more. lol.

With a red teg, hmmmm, Gold sounds nice.
White isnt all that bad on red dc's actually , take a look

Attachment 11257

EDIT: nvm, i just read this is for your blue accord....either way, something to think about when doing rims for your Red DC

AcuratePaul 05-04-2010 09:18 PM

They will fit both my accord and Teg so i might change it up once in a while so im thinking of a colour that will match both my blue gay accord and my red dc.

AcuratePaul 05-13-2010 10:55 AM

Update: so i started working on then yesterday after work. Got 1 sanded down with the low grit. Was a pain in the ass cuz there white. Got the deep chips as smooth as possible. Let's just say my fingers kill from the dam sand paper and I only did one lol. Will get some pics of the one i did today.

Found a super big dent on one rim just wondering how to fix and how much it would cost. Will get pics of that too. It's bent about 3/4 of an inch.
