Do i need a camberkit if dropping a 96 integra?

i'm plan on putting in some H&R springs so thats about 1.7/1.5 drop.
Is a camberkit required for this drop to prevent tire dmg?
If so what do you recommend
Thnx

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 01:22 PM

skunk2 camber kit.

checkout OptionJDM: Performance Parts & Accessories good prices

If you lower your car and dont put a camber kit. your tires will be on an angle. Which will cause the inner part of your tire to ware out. Poping several tires in the summer.

96tegsta 02-21-2010 01:26 PM

thnx for the quick response

Vida 02-21-2010 01:30 PM

Depends on your size tire also. But I havent needed one yet.

96tegsta 02-21-2010 01:31 PM

summers are 17's
winters are 15's
oh and is rear camber adjustment also needed?

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 01:33 PM

If you lower your car not too much, you dont need it. but its recommended, for better driving.

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 01:33 PM

rear camber is needed too.

Vida 02-21-2010 01:33 PM

You get more camber in the front tires than the rear. If you REALLY want to be safe and not get any wear on your tires I say just worry about the fronts. But I doubt you;ll need the kit for 15's, 17s maaaybe, what size tire is on the 17s?

D.T.P 02-21-2010 01:40 PM

you will be fine. thats not much of a drop. i had 2" drop with no camber kit and had no wear on tires. was running 195/60r15. only thing that is recommended is allignment.

Lower your car and see how much camber you get on your rear. You dont get much at that drop hes going for. If any. Im at that drop if not more and I havent seen anything on my tires. Shits barely noticeable. Camber is for people who are down 2.5 if not more.

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 01:58 PM

i dropped mine 4inch. maybe that y lmao

Vida 02-21-2010 02:09 PM

And wheres the pics of a 4 inch drop.

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 02:20 PM

pics are sumwere on this site. it was around 2yrs ago

D.T.P 02-21-2010 03:51 PM

i was trying to find some pics, and 3 years ago you had threads named:
*Detailed the teg today*
*Finally Brough The New Teg Home*
they may have had the pics but the links to the pics are dead. i would love to see a 4" drop. what wheels/size?

Spike 02-21-2010 04:09 PM

After you get the car lowered, get a alinement done. If you have any more then 1.5 degree of camber, you are going to kill your tires. I fine up to 1.5 degree of negative camber will not kill your tires that fast, but anything more negative will, so just get a alinement done after wards. I do alinements on lowered hondas/acuras alot at work.

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 04:47 PM

At one time, I had spoon SW's. and then just stock acura rims another time.

This is 3inch drop. only the front is lowered. bolts were stripped in the rear so i didnt have the back lowered here

It is not necessary to have a camber kit installed. However it is highly recommended that an alignment be performed after the act of lowering your vehicle.

If not, Toe out wear will eat the inside of your tires. Toe wear is what eats away @ tires much more aggressively than negative camber.

Honda-Tech actually has a sticky on this;

No, you DO NOT need camber kits!!!!!!!! - Honda-Tech

Action Jackson 02-21-2010 09:16 PM

Or get a camber kit if you hit potholes like me and end up with over 5 degs of unwanted camber!

JDM_overdose 02-21-2010 09:22 PM

Suspension 101. If he doesnt get a camber kit. its going to get worse and worse and his alignment will always go out of wack

AcuratePaul 02-22-2010 01:16 AM

If you plan on tracking the car then camber is a must or your sidewalls will be eaten off of your tires in 1 track date, but as for just lowering i wouldnt even bother getting camber just get alligment done, i have 17's on mine just not lowered yet :( and tires are mint as the day i bought them and that was 2 seasons on them and 2 drag days.

Spike 02-22-2010 05:50 AM

I have a 2.5" drop, and I need camber kit, I have 2.8 degrees of negative camber, and kills tires every 2-3 months, but like I said before, if you have more the 1.5 degree of negative camber, your going to kill your tires fast.

205/40/17

Vida 02-22-2010 07:16 AM

Yea youre gonna rub on the top with 205's if you go any lower. Im guessing now you'll just be rubbing along little bumps here and there. But its true, get an alligment done. What youre doing when you're lowering the car is changing the way the tire hits the ground and the way it comes back up. In some cases theres is no need for a camber kit and you'll only need an allignment. Like I said also, worry more about your fronts. The back you can do the washer trick, loool.

96tegsta 02-22-2010 07:22 AM

ok so if i do an allignment it won't mess up again quickly? incase i hit potholes or wat not
and lol wat is the washer trick if u dun mind me asking? :)

JustinDM 02-22-2010 12:32 PM

the washer trick is a "poor man's" rear camber kit. However it is CRITICAL that you use an extended bolt.

JDM_overdose 02-22-2010 12:35 PM

Do it properly. dont use washers.

JustinDM 02-22-2010 12:56 PM

JDM_overdose 02-22-2010 01:00 PM

This is why there are so many ricers/car accidents/bad drivers.

This is what seperates the ricers from the tuners.

If you cant afford to do it properly, then just wait until you have the money.

This msg isnt towards anyone. Just in general

D.T.P 02-22-2010 02:51 PM

AcuratePaul 02-22-2010 05:20 PM

Ya...like they say go big or go home so either get the proper ---- and dont cheap out on something like that which will eventually cost you x2 the price.

1goodyr 02-24-2010 12:23 AM

I got 17'' summers with low pros, and my front is dropped, id say get the camber kit cuz i went threw 2 front summers in about a month and half tops,

Stephen R. 02-24-2010 12:27 AM

i have 15's and im tucking the tire good and i havnt switch tires for 2.5 season and still fairly good...

1goodyr 02-24-2010 12:29 AM

Nope, it all depends on how low you go. I find anything more then a 1.2" drop, and your going to start going pass 1.5 degree of camber, and that's when your going to start killing your tires.

I was running 15's last year, with the same drop I have now with my 17's, and my 15's only lasted me about two and a half months on the tires, all because of the drop I have.

Vida 02-24-2010 07:07 PM

2.5'' drop come spring for me. woooooot
