Difference bwtween stock gsr suspension and type r stock suspension
any body know if there is any difference between the type r stock suspension and the stock gsr suspension???
I believe higher spring rates, lower stance and stiffer shocks for the Type-R suspesnion. I think i remember reading that a year ago. I will try and find the article
i have a gsr. i switched to type r suspension, its stiffer, and a bit higher. the Lower control arms are different too. overall i do like it a lot more and i bought it for like 170 bucks so it was a steal too.

also, the REARS! you cant use the rear GSR struts with the Type R Rear lower control arms. and vice versa
Rear Type R LCAs / Struts http://www.jdmconcept.com/photogalle...%20lca%27s.jpg As you can See, the Type R LCAs "hug" the Strut RS/LS/GS/SE/GSR Rear LCAs / Struts https://www.torontointegras.ca/pictu...&pictureid=300 As you can see here, the Strut goes over the LCA itself and "hugs" it. So if you get OEM or aftermarket Type R rear suspension, you will need to get the proper Lower Control arm For it The fronts are interchangeable, so no worries there |
I always thought gsr's had stock suspension like a regualr ls rs gs. The type r is a lot differen like vida and ryan explained. If you considering doing your suspension then I would go aftermarket anyway instead of doing the type r suspension swap.

thats true, thanks alot guys , its just i came across a decent deal and was just getting me thinking about doing it thats all
Plus with ITR rear control arms, you can't use you factor rear sway bar, as the ITR bolts to the inside of the control arm, not to the out side like the GS-R
i just did a TYPE-R 98 SPEC suspension swap with my DB7 and it fits perfectly. it's just the rear lower control arm that is different. also you get about an inch drop. :D
So Type-R swap is a good cheap suspension upgrade? Or is it better to get aftermarket springs/shocks?
Its a good suspension in general, just a tiny bit stiffer then the OEM stuff. You can get the whole type r suspension for roughly 150. Buuuuuuuuuut if you like staying high up then yea I guess its alright. Personally I like myself low, and I dont wanna sacrifice my struts doing so by getting sleeves or just springs, so i recommend getting a solid strut/spring combo, or full coilovers. You'll love it
I would still recommend aftermarket since in the long run you can do more with it then just the oem Type R Suspension...Don't get me wrong Type R Suspension is great better then stock tegs but always better going aftermarket for at least the suspension.
