dc2 95' integra SE b20b non v-tec --- Turbo oR ...

hey,

this would be my first car and i would like to get some info on what engine mods i can do to gain some more HP with my b20b engine.(high compression)

i have a b20b high compression engine (pics coming soon) i recently put a dc2 front end, it is an automatic transmission, and I'm wondering if i can install a T3/T4 turbo kit into my car? this is my DD car.

OR

should i just buy a b18- header and make it vtec....

any info would be much appreciated,

thanks

You can install a kit if you like but bone stock b20 with boost as a daily might not be the most reliable car. Also, in order to go vtec and do a vtec setup its alot more than just a vtec head needed. As many here know, I started a B20/Vtec and stopped halfway to just go with a GSR VTEC motor due to.its simplicity and reliability. Not to say b20/vtecs are not reliable but they need to be built properly, which means money. I was half way through my VTEC parts list and was at $1000 without labor. So I thought it best to choose another route.

I would pick up a new head gasket and port n polish the b20 head. New angle job on the valves, lap them in and get some mild cams. Also i would get an S2 I/M, throttle body and a fiel pressure reg. Along with some better injectors. Then convert it to obd1 and get that thing tuned.....

If its an auto, theres no point in even turboing it. The auto trans are horrible, they're basically like glass(unless of course you build the tranny up like what Natasha has done, but this won't be a quick cheap thing). I wouldn't be surprised if eventually your b20 tears it apart. My first teg was auto, I swapped 2 different trannies into it and all it had was bolt ons. Honestly I would just throw in some mild cams a few bolt ons and tune it. For a DD I wouldn't want anything to crazy (but that's just me, I prefer reliability)

Regardless of your choice, keep us posted!
Good luck!

Just so you know a DC2 is either a GSR or Type R. The non GSR and Type R 2 door cars are DC4. The 4 door cars are DB. That may also help you for later when buying parts.

"Kaptain Keith", stock injectors and stock fpr is good enough for all bolt ons/mild cams.

OP dont bother...its not worth doing any work because you will be limited to what the transmission can handle...which isnt a lot. You would quickly notice bands/clutches slipping and there goes your trans...

D.T.P. - Thats just it, "there good enough".
Factory fuel pressure is set low to consume fuel. And you can upgrade to a multi point injector for better fuel atomizing.

Gains are minimal compared to money spent. There is, in reality, no need to swap them. Stock they run at about 50-55% duty cycle, thus its got lots of room for increasing flow. Also, pressure....is not something you should be changing unless you have huge injectors. The injector will spray for certain amount of time...thus pressure is not important. Granted higher pressure and better injectors could make the combustion more complete but....its a b20 and not a 12:1+ race motor.
