Damaged Paint

While painting my stock spoiler I accidentally dropped a newspaper on it during my second clear-coat. I am very happy with the way it was turning out up until that point.
I sanded away the clear coat in that area (5x5" on the passenger tip) to remove the pieces of newspaper. I went a little deep with 1000 sandpaper and took off a very small layer of paint.

Do I need to sand the entire spoiler? or just the top half? or should i just repaint that section and re-clear coat the entire thing?

since you just hit that one spot down thru the paint, i'd scuff it (the whole top) re spray the spot lightly then reclear the whole upper half. scuff it with a scotchbrite pad tho or 400 grit and you should be fine. GL

Thanks dude, ya thats what i was thinking, only i am afraid the clear won't stick unless i have a fresh coat of paint down. So heres what i'm going to do unless i hear otherwise:

Scuff entire top of spoiler, respray with one coat of paint and start my clear coating over again on the top and bottom. at least this way I'll have a consistent colour on top and not have to worry about the clear coat peeling eventually.

I also thinking about using my left over paint on a few other problem spots on my car, ie. door handles, front bumper. The front half of my car has been repainted, i'm getting the rear half touched up in the summer so the new paint shouldn't stick out.
