crashed car, now it just doenst feel the right.

So long story short on the 401 i got literally pushed off the road and hit the cement retaining wall where it is super close to the yellow line. no shoulder.

no body damage. just messed up the front real bad and wrecked my rim.

Already fixed it all, got a`whole used front suspension setup from someone. bought new bearing, and both ball joints. havent done alignment yet but thats not the problem. everything is all fixed.

now the bumps are really rough, and car just feels like a floppy piece of ----. my rims are bent tho, and needs the alignment but it just feels bad. im hoping my new rims, and coilovers and alignment will fix`this. but who knows.

Spike 11-14-2009 05:04 PM

Well if you have bend rim, it's going to shake all over the place.

Clarkee 11-14-2009 05:06 PM

Bent rim will do that. Check your tie rods and of course, get an alignment

JDM_overdose 11-14-2009 05:53 PM

Rim is the problem. To double check, put a spare tire on and see if it still feels messed. If it still feels messed, it might be your rods

D.T.P 11-14-2009 06:03 PM

Whaa, that sucks, hope you fix it, need more DA's on the road.

XNXIXTXRXOX 11-14-2009 07:43 PM

yea i know its the rim. all of them are bent, there old (but nice looking) american racing 5 spoke ones. but it also sounds like i have really flat tires with goning over little bumps but not big ones. i thing the tire belt are fucked too. holy. nice time ill let the person smash me and not let them peel off.

XNXIXTXRXOX 11-17-2009 03:11 PM

so i did my alignment myself, got both toes to 0.01 on each side :). car is good now, my alignment was making me hit small bumps hard apparently?. car goes straight, sound good, and i got a whole new left front side :)

JDM_overdose 11-17-2009 03:56 PM

You have the machine to do alignments...

kartheegan 11-17-2009 04:13 PM

sorry to read that..it has to be the rim for sure..try driving your car with another rim and see how the ride is and your sayin you changed your front suspension set up so it prolli feels different from your rear suspension set up..well good luck and hope you figure out the problem

At my shop yes :)

dimasbenz 11-17-2009 07:39 PM

sorry to hear about the teg

XNXIXTXRXOX 11-17-2009 07:40 PM

yea it is the rims i know that for sure, i was just questioning other feeling that i wont even try and bother explaining in word on the comp.

Either way its pretty much all fixed.

check your sub frame, control arm and sway bar for any cracks or bends....when you do the alignment leave the heads on the wheels till the car comes down and touches the ground because specs change as the alignment rack comes down and touches the ground. tighten the tie rod inner nuts and wait a bit to see if the specs change after tightening....just some info id look out for bro, i hope it helps...one more thing to check for is once you change the time, throw it on the balancer and make sure there isnt a belt in the tire that may have ripped or shifted..

JDM_overdose 11-23-2009 09:01 PM

So if i drive to your shop, you`ll do an alignment for me for free:)

Already done, replaced eveything on that side, and your always suppose to do an alignment on the ground, its common knowledge. and yes, i did balance my tire again, no broken belts at all, just a bent rim. my alignment got to 0.01 degrees on both left and right, so i did it pretty dam good.

nope :)

8500 RPM 11-26-2009 04:41 PM

Ok, it's good that all is well now, but the the heck happened in the first place. Share that long story!

XNXIXTXRXOX 11-30-2009 04:03 PM

well im driving in the left lane and there was a guy right behind me even those i was going above the speed limit (no need for details :) ) so this beemer comes up in the middle lane and wants in my lane cus theres someone in front of him. he looks over, makes some weird gesture and starts moving over fast. i honk and flip him the bird but he just keeps going. now the guy got right up on me behind me so i couldnt really hit the brakes. now the barrier was really close cus of construction so as i was trying not to get hit by this flaming homo, i rode up on the barrier. now that i think about it tho, i should have just let him hit me lol.

B18C-UL8R 12-01-2009 07:06 PM

i think its the alignment, i popped my balljoint and after i replaced it it didnt feel the same. i did an alignment and it was mint after that.

dc2integra 12-02-2009 08:42 AM

when you did the alignment did you do front only or front and rear? did you do the caster sweep as well or did you bypass it? do you remember your camber and caster readings?

XNXIXTXRXOX 12-05-2009 09:49 PM

yea i did the rear. camber in the front was at about -.70 both sides. the rear camber was -.45 ish. the toe on the rear was like -.30 both sides but i didnt really feeling like doing the work to adjust that.

dc2integra 12-06-2009 11:57 AM

you gotta make those adjustments to find out whether or not that it your problem. im pretty sure it is because it seems as though the total rear toe is waay off and so is the front camber....i'd make the necessary adjustments before doing anything else. it may be the cheapest fix..

XNXIXTXRXOX 12-13-2009 11:43 AM

ummm the camber in the front is mint. you want some negative camber. i noe people running -2 degrees camber. more than double mine.

and the toe in the rear is a lil off. not by much. you also want some negative toe too.

but yea car is all nice and new now. no problems.

dc2integra 12-13-2009 12:38 PM

that is true too but at the same time i would put them all to spec. and drive the car to see if it makes a difference in how the car feels to you. once they're into spec and the car feels right to you, then you can adjust the toe, camber and caster specs to what you want them to be....just my opinion.

tegy_91 12-16-2009 10:10 PM

that sucks glad the car is back to normal

BlackAck 01-18-2010 09:01 PM

I'm finding the same problem with my car a crashed it and now the steering wheel is not straight the acura symbol points to the left. does that mean my alignment is off?

tightywhitey 01-18-2010 09:09 PM

have a bodyshop or mechanic look at it

XNXIXTXRXOX 01-18-2010 10:05 PM

yes your alignment is off lol. and this thread is old, im a mechanic and looked at it myself. its all fixed and taken care of lol, as stated last month.
