P1381 Engine Code

Hey everyone,

I drive a 2000 Integra.

I had my check engine light on for awhile because I had another error code pulled P0420 for the cat, but I replaced that along with the shot o2 sensor but I was still putting out that P0420 code so I left my engine light on and forgot about it.

Last week, I noticed after I filled up my gas that when I shifted to third, my car would struggle a little bit, almost like a misfire but not really. It was basically going "putt putt putt" so I had to down to 2nd and go to about 3-4k rpm than switch to 3rd gear. This happened twice.

I forgot about it after since it didnt show up again but I remembered about it today and thought, well, lets check my engine code and see if anything popped up other than my P0420.

So I went to my friends house to use is OBDII reader and got a :
P1381: CYP Sensor Intermittent Interruption

What does this mean?

I replaced the dizzy and spark plug wires about 2 months ago and have gone about 7000km since then. I haven't done the spark plugs yet though.

What could be the problem? >.<

Cylinder position sensor.

Is that distributor still under warranty? Double check all the wiring connections to it.

You should try and get the P0420 code sorted out as well. Which O2 sensor did you replace?

I got 1 year warranty with it so I'll get that checked out.

The P0420 code is annoying as hell..lol, I had both sensors replaced by Dave, then the code popped back and I replaced the Cat.

I'm hoping the place that replaced my Cat didn't screw up my O2 sensors -_-

btw, I got an aftermarket Cat that Dave told me to buy

id take it back to dave.. and he'll help you out... hes a good guy..

Dave seems to be too busy these days.

If he's still moving his shop around, I don't wanna bother him.

I heard this code might be a distributor problem from Dave so I might bring it to igarage and get that checked out

man do the plugs... its lke 20$ and it may solve your problem... is it running rough at all??

jay-san 10-10-2008 04:22 PM

nah, it drives fine..lol, thats the weird thing

any progress? did you find out the actual code name? or do you just know the code? ill look it up and post it later if you haven't found it out yet..

The actual code name is in the original post.
Progress wise, I brought the car to Ivan at iGarage and he took a quick glance, he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, he clear the code and it came back on right away.
He didn't have much time as he was the only one at the garage at the time and was working on another customers car.
He said if I wanted to, he will take a look at the wiring of the car and also put another dizzy in and see if it clears the code. =)
So I'm going to see when I have more time so I can drop the car off to him to take a look.

He says it is probably a wire that is touching/rubbing against something as the dizzy is new and shouldn't be malfunctioning, but he will put another one in just to test it out.

I'll update when I have anymore info:)

Wouldn't be the first time I've come across something brand new that didn't work.

I have a feeling you are going to end up with another new distributor. None of the sensors in the thing are more than simple magnetic pickups, its either going to work or not...
