Check Engine light..

So i was drving home today from Acura on Main in Hamilton..there was a little piece of wood sitting on the road that i missed with my eyes and ended up hittin it with my left side tire. I thought just incase something might be wrong ill dbl check, so i pulled over into some car cleaning deal (just happend to be the next avalable to pull over into) and checked the tires and everything was good..so i thought well maybe it wasnt as bad.. so i then got into my car (which i left running) and it was running rough, shaking more so than usual, I then see the ugly yellow light screaming on my dash, so i popped the hood to see if anything had come unplugged, detached, etc. so i continued driving home because my code reader was at home so i went straight there..got home plugged the reader in and came out with PO304 Misfire Cylinder 4. So i called up -----------, and he suggested remvoing the dizzy cap and running some sand paper to the contacts. So i pulled the dizzy cap off and cleaned the contacts and the contact on the rotor. Put it all back together, cleared the code. and started it up. This time it ran better but still not A1.

As far as i know now the CEL is off but i only had it running for about a minute and a half since it was cleared.. since it still runs a little rough (shaking and put put put sound out the pipe) what else do you think should be checked? Did i not clean the contacts good enough? Do i need some wires? Or something with the dizzy?

All help is appreciated..

get a new cap and rotor

check your plugs, new cap and rotor, check resistance on spark plug wires, a misfire could also be a mistimed injector that the ecu isn't picking up as well.

That was one of my later thoughts as well. At 285,000kms its due for a change if the original was changed at the recommended 144,000kms interval.

Knowing how dealers like to prey on customers paranoia, the original may have been changed a good bit earlier than that.

Im going to throw some new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor on in the next day or two depending how quickly my buddy at Acura gets the parts..

Went to Acura on Brant this morning...picked up some new plugs and threw them in...corrected the problem..

When i went to clear the codes, for shits and giggles, i checked the code again there were a few more... Misfires on 4, 3, 2, and the code for Random Misfires came up... Cleared the codes and now its running fine, and no light as of yet. :)
