CEL Code 17 and 22

Hey All

So I pulled out my teg two days ago and I got CEL and ofcourse VTEC was not working. I got two CEL codes 17 and 22. After all the research 17 seems to be VSS (speed sensor) and 22 VTEC pressure valve. I didn't notice my speedo acting up,but maybe it is since I only took the car out for a wash. As for code 22 i really don't know what to do. I've been told to change the actual solenoid by a few idiots LOL. After some research I figured how to check the solenoid and it works fine. Every place I read gives different solutions so if someone had experienced a similar situation as me then please tell me what your solutions is. Also does anyone know where exactly the VSS is located on the tranny.

Thanks in advance

going from what i know about the OBD-0 LS trannys the VSS is where the speedo cable plugs in. it's pretty much at the top of the tranny

code 22 is for the pressure switch not the solenoid (21 is for the solenoid). First thing i'd do is check the wiring to it from the ecu. Then maybe replace the pressure switch (not the whole vtec solenoid assembly).
The vtec won't work with a code 22 or code 17 b/c vtec looks for a VSS signal before activating vtec (unless you have the "disable vtec speed check" box in crome checked). So if the VSS doesn't work, vtec won't work....but vtec will definately not work with a code 22.
The VSS is located in the top of the differential housing (back of the tranny where the axles go in). And takes only 1 10mm bolt to remove it from the tranny.

problem is fixed it was my vtec solenoid gasket and as for VSS my harness that goes into the speed sensor was rotten.
Mark and Zman thanks for your help
