Default Carsound Cat Length Question.

OK so, im going to be putting on my carsound cat tommorow on my 95 LS. universal 2-1/4
Now, for any one who has them, will the cat have to be shortened, or lenghtend. Just need to know so if its lengthened i can pick up some piping before i take it in to school to do tommoorw

To tell you the truth, it very's a lot depending on the header and cat-back exhaust that's used.

What I had to do was jack the car up and grab a measuring tape and measured the actual length of my cat from flange to flange. That way it wouldn't change anything and it would be accurate.

It's the best way.

installed it all, had to extend the cat about an inch. Between the Dc 4-1 2.5 header and the 2.25 in carsound cat, it completly changed the tone of my exhaust, which was kinda of an upset. lol i really liked the old sound i got. But the power is defiantly noticable beyond 5 grand.

I hear you on the changing the sound of the exhaust. Mine sounds like *** now as well. I'm looking to change it to a different cat-back in the summer because of it.

aha yea tuning would for sure be a good idea, i want to put a couple more things on and tune it asap after that, so i dont tune, then add some stuff, then have to tune again.

So im having a hard time deciding whats next, I have been looking into IM's and throttle bodies but i have heard for LS the powerband is too high and not really benificial for me. And then after i did something like that id tune for sure. Would an Safc II be enough to tune my car?
