Carpet color change!

Hey guys, so im gona rip my carpet out of my car today and do the whole floor with rocker gaurd to protect it better from water and all that ----, while the carpet is out i was thinking of dyeing it, Id like todo it red, i know napa sells fabric paint and it works awsome on cloth seats and crap like that, my question is does anyone know if i should bleach the carpet first? has anyone done this b4? any advice would be great:)

I know dying a carpet is a long process takes a couple of days for it to be right.

I remember reading a DIY somewhere. Person was dying it black thou. They got the dye that mixes with the water and then they stuck it into s barell overnight.

Going from black to red is going to be really hard to do. Bleaching it first doesn't sound like a bad idea. But it will be hard to bleach every spot perfectly, without a big barell.

The best thing you could do is steam clean the heck out of it and then give 'er with the dye for a couple days in a barrel and then letting it dry in the sun a couple more days.

I think you'd be doing more harm than good bleaching it, it'll be spotted. If you dont bleach it, it'll come out a nice blood red.
