car idling higher a bit wondering if its normal

so i just got my brake master cylinder changed, and when me and my uncle were doing it he pulled out one hose just above the brake reservior. I don't know what this hose does excact but i heard its the "TPS sensor"? Well now my brakes work fine, but it always idles at about 1500 rpm and its noticable louder. Before it used to idle just under 1000rpm and was a lot more quiet. I was just wondering if it will eventually go back to normal, and if there is anything i can do to reset or make it the same as b4?

thanks in advance for any help guys

you can try to turn down the idle screw.

WildoutWhiteGSR 07-28-2005 03:34 PM

he pulled off a vacuum hose. Did he atleast put it back on?

esguerra 07-28-2005 03:47 PM

put it back on (if you guy's didn't put it back on) and like john said, adjust the idle screw...

Platinum Playa 07-28-2005 03:53 PM

adjusting the idle screw doesn't fix the problem, wouldn't it be hiding it in the case.

team_AMAZING 07-28-2005 05:53 PM

yes he put it back on after we were done changing the master cylinder. So i'm confused as to where the knob is? and if it works. Cause if adjusting the idle screw doesn't do it, i wonder how it will go away. But i will try that thanks

reset the ecu first

high-octane 07-29-2005 11:32 AM

how do u reset ecu?

DaGizzer 07-29-2005 11:46 AM

^ Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Reconnect after several minuetes. Start the car and let it run for a few more minutes and your good to go.

team_AMAZING 07-30-2005 07:32 PM

okay so i tried what you said, it worked kind of the first time it started. It idled below 1000 rpm's up and down for a bit and i let it run for a couple minutes. Then after when i shut it off and started it back up, it always sits right under 1500 rpm's and is still louder then normal. Any other suggestions? thanks

team_AMAZING 08-01-2005 10:09 PM

anybody?

WildoutWhiteGSR 08-02-2005 01:19 AM

Try resetting the ecu the right way by pulling the fuse. I'm not sure how to do it on a G2 or what fuse it is.

If it still happens post again.

Resetting the ECU on a gen2

According to the Service manual the ECU reset procedure is the following:

ECU Reset procedure. (Perform every time when troubleshooting)
1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Remove the BACK UP fuse (7.5A) from the under-hood fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECU.
CANADA: Remove the HAZARD, BACK UP fuse (10A) from the under-hood fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECU.

(The following is not found anywhere in the service manual, but makes sense, so I follow it.)
Now when starting the car, let the car idle for 5-7 minutes with all accessories off and don't press the accelerator at all. Let the car warm up to normal operating temperature before pressing the accelerator. REMEMBER DON'T PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL UNTIL IT HAS WARMED UP FOR 5-7 MINUTES. When the car has warmed up for 5-7 minutes turn the ignition off. ECU has been successfully reset.

^^^ i tried this, and the car still idles higher then usual :( only thing i did different was take out ECU fuse (10A) and the HAZARD,BACK UP (10A). Unless i did it wrong, is there any other advice? thanks

Platinum Playa 08-02-2005 06:01 PM

Its like a sterio one is main power one is memory

team_AMAZING 08-02-2005 10:22 PM

well, i think i found out the problem. i think the throttle cable was bent, it wasn't put back properly and was bent under the clutch cable, it was twisted kind of under the brake reservior don't know if this makes sense. So i think thats what made it idle a bit louder. I put it back properly, and i reset the ECU like you said just to be safe, well now everything seems to be idling fine and running smooth again. Thanks again for every1's help :D now to fix that damn driveshaft.

P.S: my 700th post :D

WildoutWhiteGSR 08-03-2005 03:37 AM

Goodstuff, buy the fenco driveshaft's from crappy tire. They come with lifetime warrenty and if you return your old driveshaft to them they give you back money.

team_AMAZING 08-03-2005 09:15 AM
