Car burning oil! Help
 

My 1991 integra burns oil after 120km/h. What is the problem. What do I need to fix?

Seriously though, how many km's do you currently have on your engine. Because it's normal for high mileage engines to burn oil. The 2 main causes of oil burning is that the oil rings on the pistons are worn out, or the valve seals are worn out. Is there alot of smoke out your tailpipe? How long does your oil last before you need to top it up again?

I just bought the car. the guy told me the car burns oil around 120km/h. and i test drove it and it did burn. car costed 500$. there is 250,000kms on the car. If the oil rings are burnt or the seals are worn, how much will it cost me to fix it.

I didnt notice any smoke. but the guy told me straight up that it burns.

I would drive the car as is, and keep an eye on the oil level. Then I'd save some money over time, and swap out your engine for another one that doesn't burn oil and has less km's. :)

I can buy the engine now. What are the prices like.

My car is auto. Not changing it to 5speed for a while.

The engine burns oil all the time, it's just more noticeable at higher speeds. It's could be lots of different things making it burn oil, but I have seen alot of Honda's the burn oil and it's the valve seals that are causing the problem.

a lot can go wrong but mostly its with the valve seals..something like that happened to my buddys gsr and everyone is telling him his motors going to blow but nothing yet..just save some money and swap engine and tranny at once..ls engines arent that much..around 500 bucks..and when you change your tranny go b16 tranny

Do I have to change my tranny when I change my engine because of this oil problem?

no you dont but since your tranny is auto and you want stick shift you might as well do both at the same time because labour should be cheaper and when you buy both engine and tranny they might give you a deal where ever you pick it up..rebuilding your ls engine is a good idea too..for all this get the right person that knows how to do it right..all depends on your budget as well..you have lotta options when it comes to engines

Im keeping it auto. Havnt quite mastered standard yet. I have a other integra thats standard. I practice on that.

yeah its really up to you but im guessing some day you might want standard and you might regret you worked on your engine and not your tranny because of labour costs..you wanna go jdm and stick shift is what you would start off with

are you sure it's not just a leak? if oil leaks, for example, say from the valve cover onto your engine, the oil would have a burning smell from leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

i would say check for leaks first, before going into more expensive repairs.
