Can my Car handle a 1000W AMP, and a 12" Sub
I have a 95 Integra, can my bettery/alternator handle a 1000W AMP with one 12" Sub? Using 8 Guage Wires if that matters, Any tips input helps thanks :)
It is a MTX Thunder 1501D if that matters. |
its 1000W peak @ bridged, not RMS.
u should be using 4 guage if ur going to be using that much power, and maybe a capacitor to keep the load off your battery. |
I have some 4 Guage wires laying around (my old ones) I guess I could just slap those ones back on. Wont they burn with that much power though?
|
umm...
4 gauge is bigger the #8!
#4- 70 AMPS #8- 40 AMPS |
Lol oops I feel like such a noob, I have 8 Guage connected then.
|
I also have a 400 W amp would it just be better to use that?
|
You better use a 4 gauge wire, not a 8, your amp will cut out at higher levels. You will see the lights dim at night when you are pounding the base, but it should still be fine. I used to run a 1600 watt peak/1000 RMS amp on the stock stuff, and it never died on me.

Thanks for hte input guys, I dont want to take a chance I am going to use my 400W for now until I get a capacitor.
|
lol yeah i am running 8gauge to my amp at the moment. it cuts out when you give it too much juice. rather annoying cause i don't really feel like stripping apart my interior AGAIN and re-running 4gauge
(it didn't help i had no idea what wattage my amp is) |
