i believe they sell caliper paint at Canadian Tire, or any High Heat paint.
My suggestion, don't do it |
VHT if you spray them but you can use tremclad rust paint and brush it on. i've used both

^^^ If you take it off completely, you'll have to rebleed your brakes as well, so add the cost of fluid to that list.
The paint will fade no matter what type you buy or brand. I usually redo mine each spring. |
is it recommended to take the whole caliper off? like to remove all the brake dust and so forth?

Guys you're doing this the hard way. :nonono: Get Folia Tec Caliper Lacquer, any performance shop worth it's salt has this stuff. It's about $40-60 for it, but you don't need to take anything off, just mask the bleed screws etc and get a wire bristle brush. You brush first then spray the cleaner (incl), once dried, you brush on paint, it hardens in 24hrs and it's glossy and durable like powedrcoating. :D No fading, chipping or re-doing every year or so. I've never had to recoat anything and I've done at least 6 sets of brakes . . . disc and drums.
VHT is ok for a quick fix, but spray is far less accurate and you will need to re-coat every year. |
+1 on the FoliaTec laquer. My friend had it on his 88 prelude for 6 years. The body rot away, but the calipers still looked perfect. One of the few things he took off the car before it pessed away.

+1 FoliaTec laquer FTW. When properly applied, it can outlast the car.

wr3d, use a brush, 10x easier than taking off the whole caliper and then taking it all apart, then painting it, then bleeding it etc etc.
