Cable to Hydro Conversion

Has anyone put a cable tranny into a hydro equipped vehicle?

I am looking to put a YS1 onto my B18C and would like to know whats involved.

Vehicle is a 99 Civic.

you wanna put a cable tranny on your hydro car? why not just get a hydro GSR tranny?

I have to agree with Buff just get a Hydro tranny

This is way too much work i have done it in a 96 integra i love cable trannys over hydro but i will not do it again. You need a 90 -93 teg peddle assembly it is one piece clutch, break, gas, the hydro ones r separate peddles .You will need the clutch
cable and u will have to cut out a bigger hole for the clutch master cylinder to fit in the cable one. And u will have to change the tranny mount u will have to grind off the clutch peddle off the one piece 90-93 teg peddles. Remove the hydro peddle install the cable peddle hook up the cable assembly but remove the the clutch lines and clutch master cylinder first. When i had finished it work great no problems but i would not do it again good luck.

I know u want to save money i only did this because it was a cable lsd sometimes its better to spend the money on a hydro tranny.

No offence but thats not the answer to my question.

Why question what I am doing?

But since you insist Robert.2010 has the answer... its $$. To get a decent geared tranny with LSD I would spend about $1200. (for a good USDM Type R).

I can get a YS1 for far less.

Besides the S80 JDM LSD Type R tranny the YS1 is the way to go.

My car is ONLY for race. I have 2 GSR trannies. Both mint. Gearing sucks for what I am doing and I have no LSD.

So I would rather save $800 and put a little effort into the changing a cable tranny to a hydro.

But....

I do not want to change to a cable system.

So... Has anyone converted their transmission (not their car) from cable to hydro?

I want the cable transmission to be a hydro transmission I do not want a cable actuated clutch.

You'll have to look at and compair the clutch itself, throw-out bearing and lever from both tranys, and clutch slave cylinder to see if the cable trany housing can accomodate such components from the hydro trany.

If you don't want people to question what you're doing and why, then next time include a little more info. Generally when people ask questions like this with regards to doing something beyond the norm, they either don't know what they're doing, or they have some other reason. So don't get angry if we want to know why...lol.

Your question was to put a cable tranny into a hydro tranny car is that correct .

Hold on, so you want a ys1 transmission and keep the hydraulic pedal with all components?

Few problems, if you were to swap out the release lever, you would still have the problem of where to mount the slave cylinder. If you have the time and knowledge, you could probably just swap the gear sets from the ys1 trans into gsr housing. That way it would still be hydraulically actuated and have the lsd and the gears you want.

The transmissions aren't that complicated, just got to be careful and patient.

Otherwise I don't think there is a way you could make it work in any other way.

Just make sure you use a 92-93 transmission, since the spline teeth count is the same as all the hydraulic ones.

Hope this helps

or pull the gears out of the cable tranny and put them in the hydro tranny. or change the bell housing and lever.

whatever is more complicated for you since that's the route you wanna go.
