Buying a Clutch..need hlep choosing

I'm in need of a new clutch, and I have a bone stock DC...b18b1. My first choice was to go with the Exedy Stg.1, but 'm able to get Exedy Stg.2 clutch for much cheaper; so would going with the stage 2 clutch be a good idea? I'm not planning on doing any major mods, just bolt-ons. Also if i do go with stage 1 or stage 2, would i have to upgrade Pressure Plate aswell?

..and anything else i should be aware of?

Thanks!

Pressure plate would come witht he clutch itself,Do you mean flywheel? if you do no you wouldn't have to upgrade it.

^^no man, the guy is selling just the stage 2 clutch...what Pressure plate would i have to buy for that? a oem stock one?

a clutch is made up of different parts.

clutch disk and pressure plate

i say just buy a stage 1 kit... the only thing you're gonna get with the stage 2 over the stage 1 with a stock motor is a pain in the ass and a real big left leg

it should come with both the pressure plate and clutch disc (and throwout bearing - alignment tool) if not, dont buy it from where your considering.IMO

Thanks for the input!

Is $250 worth it for a Clutchmasters clutch & a lightened flywheel? used..about 25K on it

LivinLow 02-19-2006 10:13 PM

If i'm correct clutchmaster is a canadian tire/partsource brand and is basicly OEM.
So no $250 isn't worth it maybe if he's asking $100 for it and it comes with a fidanza flywheel.

Need alittle more info.
Is it a stock flywheel that's been lightened? those aren't worth much more then $100
Same as the clutch so no $250 isn't a good deal.

CM is reputable. I am bias tho, im on a CM stage 3 Kevlar

$250 is not bad, but you have to inspect the pressure plate for heat marks, and the disc should be in good shape. The same goes for the flywheel (which you WILL have to resurface $50+) Also, was it a lightened OEM piece or other?. If it doesnt come with a throwout bearing + pilot bearing thats another $50+ from honda so your not looking at such a good deal anymore. What stage? Im guessing stage 0-1.
My advice is to do more research and find an exedy organic clutch with everything included, which you can find for a good price from time to time.
heres a site to help.
