Yeah no problem.

Welcome to the brighter side of life Phil!

JayBRO May 20, 2005 11:51 PM

If you have any questions just ask them here and I'm sure the three of us could help you out with whatever you need.

P.S. Not only have I dont my own retro fit with my RS6 HID's, but I also just put BMW 330 Projectors in my friends teg, so it's the exact same thing.

P.P.S. Retrofitting is not fun.

WildoutWhiteGSR May 21, 2005 12:01 AM

Retrofitting is okay. The aiming is a bitch!

Platinum Playa May 21, 2005 02:38 AM

aiming isn't too bad as long as your follow the direction on HIDplanet. Use the skafia instructions and you should be fine, i'm sure with those projectors you'll be able to mount it flush on the bracket. with it being a 3"bixenon (i think) it'll be the same size as the OEM lens, making it look OEM as well. You'll be fine.

Phil, Don't come to my house to do the retro! Zircon (mike) and Bryan fucked up my garage! j/k if you need a place to do it up - PM me.

JayBRO May 24, 2005 08:40 AM

RS6 projectors are not fun to retrofit... They are bigger than stock and you have to enlarge the whole quite a bit for it to fit, all the while being careful not to crack the bracket... yes, aiming is also a bitch (Btw, my projectors were mounted flush, and I still have to open up the stock bezel hole to fit it, and now there is no gap between the projector and silver bezel (Shroud whataever)... looks good and professional this way but is a super tight fit. The BMW projectors however are smaller and easier to fit in without interference... aiming is still ahuge bitch took us a long time on my buddies and I still dont think they are aimer properly.

I just fixed my HID aiming this weekend... it was a bitch...

Basically, I cracked 'em open, moved them about 1/4" closer to the lens, bent the shields (YEAH!! no more yellow... lots of blue...hehehe) and aligned the HID beam with my high beam.

Dude.. if you need some bezels... i have the two that i didn't use.. in fact, if anybody wants 'em .. lemme know. They fit nicely on the valeos but i dunno about other projectors.

Yeah, I'm a total noob when it comes to retros but really lookin' forward to doing it.

I still have to get a few more things before I'm ready to do the retrofit. But thanks in advance for all the support and tips.

Jay, hows the light from the RS6 projectors?

WildoutWhiteGSR May 24, 2005 06:33 PM

Jay I hear you on those projectors. For the S2k's there were wider and longer as well. I have a very thin bracket that the S2k's are mounted on. I removed a lot of material off of them. They're mounted flush against the bracket so stock adjustment is still retained.

But it took me a week to get them aimed properly and lots of driving to find different walls, hills and valley's to make sure no one get's blinded for on coming traffic. The hassle was worth it.

Took a day each for each projector. So a full weekend. Every hour with very little breaks.

And a week to aim.

Trick to aiming is use a power drill with a long screw driver attachment. It works a lot better than the nut on the back. Plus you can actually see which way the light is moving.

yeah man, i do the same ----... powerdrill with a long bit. you see instant results.

Wayne the light output is very good with the RS6 prokectors, and they have a very nice purple cut off line with minor modification which creates a nice flicker... but the the colour you see while standing in front of the car and looking at the headlights looks stock... I hope it gets a bit better when the bulbs colourshift, but my buddies 330 projectors that has new bulbs as well gives out a whiter light right from the beginning :(

its me.. mario May 25, 2005 08:45 AM

jay, did you do the washer mod on the projectors?

JayBRO May 25, 2005 09:03 AM

No I bent the shields.
