bought a new short ram intake

i bought an AEM intake short ram, i installed it but i notice that it doesnt have a tube thing for the other tube thing that sticks out on the top of the vavle cover that went into the stock intake. does it matter if i just leave it hanging there or wtf do i do?

Either drill a hole in the intake and jb weld a bung in or get a little breather filter from ctire...

danny.t Jul 2, 2010 07:59 PM

bought one ty

Though keep in mind, if for some reason mto stops to check your car, it will be towed. You are letting all oil fumes escape into the atmosphere, it should be routed back into intake for it to be legal. Just something to keep in mind.

It's not official AEM SRI then. Official AEM SRI comes with that hole where you put the tube.

Yup ^^ Sounds fake.

Hell even my 40 dollar pacific mall intake came with it, lol. Post a pic of the intake and the box it came in

bought it used off some guy, meh i like the way it looks with the breather filter now anyways

Vida Jul 3, 2010 12:25 AM

Cops will give you ---- for it if any reason you get pulled and they make your car go get inspected. TRUST me

D.T.P Jul 3, 2010 04:09 AM

^^ "TRUST" being in capitals made me laugh.

Its honestly an easy fix, you could even get a thread in bung and just force it in with a wrench.

Is there any difference between putting the hose on or putting the breather such as efficiency power milage anything in that sorts

XNXIXTXRXOX Jul 3, 2010 10:48 AM

With the hose connected, oil vapor and crank case gases escape through that and get burned in the combustion chamber.

With it off, The gases just get released into the atmosphere. All the filter does it keep oil and debris from coming out.

There is no power difference, just more gunk going into the engine. Best thing to do is buy a catch can/make your own.

holung Jul 3, 2010 12:16 PM

So is it better to have it off?

AcuratePaul Jul 3, 2010 12:41 PM

it honestly doesn't make a difference with it on or off really. But like stated above it is illegal to not have it properly done. And if it is AEM then it should have it, it must be a fake.

D.T.P Jul 3, 2010 09:04 PM

Yup, there is no power difference, also if your motor is healthy, there will be very minimal oil blow by. So just gases escaping. Setting up an oil catch can you will not see any oil in it. Maybe after 30k-40k km, you'll have a drop.
