B18C head on b18b block

Does B18C head fit perfectly on b18b block? of course with vtec conversion kit? any other mods to the block or thats it?

It will line right up. I believe only the B20 is where you have to add an extra dowel pin too.

Uh, no. You dont add dowel pins. Its the different bore for dowel pins, so when you get a vtec conversion kit, it comes with step down dowel pins. Also, need to use a gsr or sir water pump and gsr timing belt to prevent coolant foaming at higher rpm. Otherwise just need an oil feed line into the head and some new head bolts.

Make sure you get tune and get the right coolant lines since i believe ls and gsr water necks are at a different angle.

Would also Suggest to tap and plug the VTEC hole on the head...

Re: B18C head on b18b block

So would the same apply to a type r head and ls bottom? Gsr waterneck, timing belt, and water pump? I'm just starting my conversion now with a type r head nd ls bottom so any pointers would be appreciated greatly!!!

Re: B18C head on b18b block

So would there be any problems with a usdm gsr head and an Jdm ls bottom end? Reason for asking is the guy who was supposed to sell me the type r head flopped on me!! I found a really good deal on a usdm gsr head so what do you think?

Re: B18C head on b18b block

That would be fine, just make sure you get the head and blocked check first before you put it together.

Re: B18C head on b18b block

My block is reading 175 all the way across and the head only has 120 k on it. I'm getting the head from a guy from Toronto integras by the name of malice. He has good ratings nd seems honest. Should I get the head planed nd pressure tested? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks

Re: B18C head on b18b block

I would defiantly get the block and head looked over. And as far as tips go. I would suggest getting an oil filter sandwich adapter. It will save you from finding a place to tap an oil source from the block and will give you a much easier install. And also a set of GSR/ITR ARP head studs is HIGHLY recomended. Some pics are always helpfull so here ya go http://www.lightningmotorsports.info/tech_lsvtec.htm
