Auto Tranny Kicking Hard

Hey guys, for some time now I've noticed that my tranny kicks when I start my after leaving it sit for a while. When I drop the car into reverse it kicks and when I put into drive it kicks. When I'm driving the car, it will kick when it's switching into second gear. The kick is hard and annoying. I did a full flush on the tranny last year at this time and I checked the tranny fluid and it's fine. Anyone has the same problem or know what's going on?

Thanks

hm my car started to do that in second too. i was goin up a hill and it was sorta stuck ebtween gears. did it a bit more. drove it hard. went away. tranny fluid was past due. so i changed it. might have bin that. give your car a good rip.

If the tranny fluid is still orange, that's fine. Your tranny might be going.

You think so? I find that when the engine is fully warmed up and I'm driving at a normal pace and I suddenly steps on the gas...there is a slight delay then the rpm revs past 3000 and then the power kicks in. Know any good shops in Mississauga that I can take it to diagnose this problem? The car is a 98 with 160,200km on it..how can the tranny go so fast?

mine is kinda doing the same thing... goin up hill after its just been started ... the rpm spikes really high then its fine afterwards, and my car too is about 160k moreso noticeable in winter.

Problem has not been solved. I'm thinking about taking it at a shop that is specialized in transmisson and see what they say about it. What year is your teg?

sikkkkktegra 03-24-2006 07:36 PM

its the check balls in your tranny.

Its a 96 2-door RS Auto, dont know if that helps....any suggestions wut to ask for and how much this should cost...sikkktegra said check balls...

GSurju 03-24-2006 11:20 PM

not sure how much this will cost. will try to visit my mechanic tomorrow and explain the problem and see if he says it's the check balls too and get a quote on how much it will cost to fix it. If you do the same, lemme know how much u got quoted for.

Try to let the car warm up first, especially when its really cold out. i find that solves the problem

GSurju 04-13-2006 07:20 AM

spoke to a few mechanics and they seem to think that the tranny is slipping...and it sounds like it's gonna cost big $$$$ to have it fix
