antenna replacement installation
Does anyone know if any of these antennas will work as a replacement for my 96 teg?
E2 Steel Replacement Mast Antenna | Canadian Tire FUBA Deco Antenna | Canadian Tire E2 Rubber Replacement Mast | Canadian Tire thanks! |
i was unable to see the pictures but its just a universal plug.... Unscrew the antenna from inside the trunk behind the plastic cover, pull the wire until you feel the metal connector piece, unplug it, and connect the new one. 10 minutes of work.

No, you do not have to remove the seat but the rear pastic trim you do. You can just remove have of it so that you can get your hands in their. But from the looks of the antenna, those might not work with the teg. Unless you remove the whole assembly and replace it with one of those.
Cheers |

Cheers might need the motor too, not sure what is causing the grinding. |
scrap yard
I have an extra motor |
You can try by taking out the motor apart and clean it out. When i replace the antenna mask, I noticed the old one broke in half because of dirt build up. Try to take it out and clean it.
|
is it a motorized antenna... I have a 94 teg and it was just a straight plug in..
|
it is motorized
|
do you really need to keep it motorized??? Get rid of the motor and just use a stubby antenna... i think it looks better.. and you wont have to worry about the motor anymore..
|
oh i definitely don't care whether its motorized or not..just want it to work without the grinding noise.
which is why i posted a link to several antennas including a stubby in my OP..but i still dont know if they'll fit my teg. |
i'm doing an anttena replacement for the exact same reason, that grinding noise.the way the stock antenna are built is kinda stupid. all the internals are plastic and very susceptible to dirt and grime. I just got a new replacement off e-bay, its the next model up antenna. I can install it and if it works good i can see if i can get you the model if you like

Will report if this works.. |
update: I can't even unscrew the original antenna from the outside, used pliers and its stripping the plastic mount :(
|
You have to do it from inside the trunk behind the plastic piece... just open the trunk and look where the antenna is. you have to pull the pice out youll see it..

anyways that will what i do next (look at it from the inside) since the mount is now stripped and ripped :( |
lol... there should be a small bolt in the trunk holding the antenna in place... pull the plastic back and youll see... good luck..

i dont want to remove the whole plastic side and then find out I can't even remove the antenna without unscrewing that stupid plastic mount
|
anyways you DO need to unscrew the plastic mount on the outside..I couldn't do it so I broke the plastic into pieces and now got the whole antenna motor out :)
|
I am HAPPY, no more ANNOYING grinding noise !
Final Update: Replaced the antenna with E2 Rubber Fender Mount Antenna | Canadian Tire
It took awhile to position the antenna to point where I wanted it and screw it down tightly. Broke a few plastic clips that secures the trunk's plastic trim while trying to remove the side plastic trims. Other than that everything is good..the antenna looks like the S2000 but a bit longer. All of this for $13 :) |
sorry i was at work... glad to hear you got the antenna installed... good job... enjoy ur am/fm listening..lol
