AMP and stock tweeters
I've read (Basic Car Audio Electronics - great site for electronic morons like me) that if using an amp on some stock tweeters, then you can cause damage to them.
If I install a 50 watt per channel RMS amp, will this damage our stock DC2 tweeters? I do not have a crossover for the tweeters. |
Well the stock tweeters are only rated at like maybe 20 watts, so yes it would blow them.
|
yup spike is correct, i just have my tweeters running off the deck and all my other speakers from amps find it works out better that way 2 amps one for interior and one for subs
|
Okay thanks that helps alot.

If you have a system under 600 watts rms then you don't really need to worry about your mids and highs they would be fine stock.
|
Stock tweeters are 30 watts with a built in cap.
I swapped them out with something else with a crossover. |
You can add a better cap on it to be safe, but adding an amp will not blow up your speakers, it will actually make them sound clear as long as you play them at the volume within the limits the factory speakers can handle. If you turn it up beyond the speakers capabilities then it will blow the speakers up.
