96 integra tranny oil

I've got a 96 integra rs 5 sp manual what viscosidy gear oil do I use in the tranny. I've called Acura and Honda and they don't seem to know this.

You use 5W30 engine oil in the tranny. It should be around 2L it should hold.

I have always used 5w30 and some times I even use ATF in it.

You should still do normal tranny services on it. You should change it more often if your harder on the car. But I would say change it like every couple years or so.

Why not just use Honda manual transmission fluid? Or the GM synchromesh stuff?

Spike Jan 21, 2010 06:08 AM

Honda manual fluid is good for the newer Honda's, it's not the same as engine oil. Up to 2000 model civics, and 2001 integras it says to use engine oil, not Honda fluid.
