48 LAF - lean air fuel sensor
This code comes up once and a while.
From what Ive come up with, is since the ecu thinks im running lean its dumping a lot of fuel, as a result im getting terrible performance and gas mileage. I have changed: -O2 sensor- OEM replacement (same code was thrown with my old O2 sensor, which makes me believe neither is the problem). -Distributor -Plugs -Wires Suggestions on my next step? |
what car, with what engine?
MOST older hondas don't have LAF sensors, as they are 5-wire wideband o2's. The only car thats got one is a 92-95 civic VX. The rest use 4 wire narrowband o2s. |
1995 Integra LS.
The code is reading 4 short, and 8 long flashes of the check engine light. I bought an oem replacement O2 that clipped right in. |
well 4 short and 8 long flashes isn't 48.
short = 1 long = 10 4 short would be 4 and 8 long would be 80 codes are always given in numerical order from smallest to largest. 4 = crank position sensor 80 = EGR But i don't think your car has an EGR, so that doesn't make sense, and if you were getting a code 4 the car would probably run rough. Unless you meant 4 long and 8 short, that would be 48. |
It is my abs light, not my check engine light. Its 4 8 wheel sensor LR, Im going to try and clean out my sensors and see where that takes me.
Still gotta figure out this bogging between 2500 and 3200rpms and the terrible gas mileage... |
