This is true, but he's also put it up on autotrader and other forums...I'd expect it to be gone by now. I'm sure there is a collector out there somewhere...can't just be in the southern states.

Yeah, sadly...type R stickers and stolen 5 lug conversions and peter pang itr kits seem to be the norm now a days.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I do feel that the market is a bit weak at the moment as well, but it's a great car, and the right buyer will come along.

For 20 grand, I really have no idea what a much nicer car would be. Hell, for my dollar, I couldn't find a car under 30 that was as much fun, reliable, with cheap parts and easy to work on. The Type-R is a phenomal car for any enthusiast.

Beautiful ITR you have there! I am sure someone will grab your car for your asking price.

Everyone knows TypeR is a very good car for its price, but for 20~30k price range, there are many other good cars available these days. Friend of mine bought 2001 M3 for 24 grand recently. He was considering 04~05 STI, e46 M3 or AP2 S2K.

This isn't really the place for this convo, but I suppose no press is bad press right. At least it gets bumped.

I agree that there are many great cars under 30g's, but not with the combination of "enthusiast" positives I mentioned. M3? fantastic car, I would love one, but not a 2001. It's out of warranty, parts are expensive, consumables are expensive, service is expensive, it's a pain to work on, etc etc. Cost of ownership of an ITR is low low low.

I totally agree. Not to mention, the depreciation will be considerably slower than M3.

Good luck with the sale to the thread starter.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. As long as it's positive, I don't mind.

I do agree that there really isn't a stock car like this for under $20K. And you can also add the fact that the Type R will absolutely embarrass some cars worth twice the amount on the circuit

It's an all round great package. I really wish I could afford both of my cars right now, and had more garage space.

^^^ I honestly have to agree, I rather pick up an rsx-s thats 2003-2006 much easy to get it financed than a 10 year old car. Plus the possibility of it being less kilosmeters. But this car is simply amazing I've seen it a couple times in brampton I think

Thanks for your concern with my sale guys, but please, lets keep this one clean. If you feel the need to discuss price with me, please PM me and I'll be happy to chat.

The price will stay the same, and anyone who has come to see the car personally has not had a problem with it. I feel the price is justified, and there isn't a car around like it. I'll wait it out until the right buyer comes along. I'll ask you to please respect that.

On a separate note, in terms of financing, I'm not fully understanding why some of you guys cannot find it for this car? There are many options outside the realm of the major banks, all with very affordable payments. If someone is interested, I can give you some contact info for my credit union and see if that can net better results. I don't see any reason why the year of the vehicle is a determining factor. Please PM me for information.

Thanks for your understanding.

I don't know of any financial institutions that will hand 18K out to a kid to buy a 98 ITR regardless of how clean it is. Not only will this kid have to be making bank, they have to be able to afford the huge insurance premium as no doubt the lender is going to want it fully insured if they write a loan for the car. Just hope to hell to get a line of credit rather than an auto loan.

Your price is not out of line and is representative of what an A1 condition R should go for, I hope you get it, but the fact remains that the aura that ITR's hold are typically over younger kids who likely just got their first credit card, are in school and/or still live at home. People with 18K sitting around to buy a toy car are probably looking for something else. If they are ITR shoppers you just have to wait it out.

I bought the car for considerably more than my asking price, and have since spent thousands maintaining and upgrading. The price is where it should be.

The right buyer will come along, and will be rewarded with a great car. I'm in no hurry to sell, nor will I entertain lower offers. That is that. So kindly, lets be done with arguments regarding price.

Thanks to all who have been supportive, and for the kind words.

Bump the thread if you like what you see, and if you don't, please keep it to yourself.

Cheers.

Yes it is a very clean/nice car, I'm sure if it doesn't sell, the seller will drop the price accordingly as with selling anything, or he just might be in no rush to sell.

P.S. are you at all negotiable on the price?

Does any one know how much a Type-R went for brand new ?
I bought GS-R second hand just wanted to know.
I think mine went for $24,000 new but i'm not sure it's a 1996.
But considering if Type R's were in the $30,000 range then it's a resonable listing for such a clean car. The pics look like they came out of a brochure from the dealer.

Good Luck Bro.

Classy response from a good seller. Very diplomatically said.

The R is worth every penny. Best of luck with the sale.

Although you may have already done this, you may want to consider increasing your reach by posting on more favorable sites. Most people on this site are either young and/or broke and drive beat up DAs, or older with more disposable income and nice rides of their own.

Good Luck Bro.
my mom bought her 4 door RS brand new back in 94 and that ran $30,000 out the door. so i'm guessing the ITR was around $32-$35,000 range.

bumP for a clean car that's worth every penny for $18g's. i would have no problems and feel good about my purchased if i spend $18 on this car because of the condition it is in. good luck on the sale, i hope you do get what is deserved for it, unfortunally you'll probably going to have to wait until that mature owner looking for a mint car comes around.

98 ITR was $30000 plus freight and whatever charges they had back in the day on top, plus GST and PST.
MSRP on 98 GS-R was $27300+++ 96 GS-R was $26395+++.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Had a guy drive down from Ottawa on the weekend to see the car. Seems promising. He's coming back next weekend and we're getting it inspected. If all goes well, we might have a winner!

It's so sad to see this thing sit all summer ...
