any DIY for teg subs installation?
hi there
wanted to install the subs and amp in my teg today wondering if there are any DIY for the wiring the only hard part is how to bring in the power cable from the battery to the inside of the car any help would be appreciated thanks |
its pretty straight forward I always did it by taking my wire, going under the drivers side behind the gas pedal firewall. and pushing it through. then you go under the hood and see where it is to yank it through until you have enough slack to reach the battery. Just make sure you dont have it close to any moving parts.. It should be pretty easy, if your having trouble putting it through use a coat hanger, unbend it and attach the wire to it with a lot of tape and put the coat hanger through the fire wall, that way it will be easier to pull it through on the other side.

bvan thanks for the quick reply bro but i was thinking more like around the lines of passenger side since the batter is there and i know if i try to bring the power from gas pedal side i might screw it up
did it in my prelude but it was much easier...there was a plastic cover on the right corner underneath the dash compartment that came off and there was a hole there thanks again....i'll def. try that as well....i am trying to find a spot right now with the laptop in the car lol |
There's a small rubber plug on the passenger side as well; look in your engine bay on the firewall, and you'll see it... you can either poke a hole through it (recommended) or just pop it out. I've run my wires thru that hole on both my tegs.

do i need to take out the dash board part? or is it underneath that by the passenger foot room area?
thanks again... |

It's black, and about the size of a toonie; sounds like you've got it :) |
yaa the size of a toonie lol....ya i think i got it
im gonna poke a hold n fish it through there will post the results thanks and probably a DIY if i get around my camera :) |
Anytime ;)
|
bro i found that n took the plug out but there was like something in front blocking it some foam material and plastic behind it
i could push it a little but not enough for the power wire to go through :( damn really wanted to pound these today |
Hmm... might be a model difference; i didn't have anything behind mine on either my 94 ls, or 95 gsr. Just a clean hole.
|
damn...mine is a 98' RS
would be able to meet up and help a brother out ? loll |

its cool...next weekends fine too....pm'd :)
|
okay so anybody else with a 98' plus teg who put in the subs
by them selves? need help people....hate to see the system sit in the garage :( . |
On the inside of the car, somewhere near the glove box area, there's a removeable grommet that cover's a hole leading to the engine bay. Just shove your head under the dash and try to find it. That's what I used to wire my system. I just had the subs for about a week and pulled them out. Started to hate all the bass. Don't know why.

i just drilled a hole in the fire wall and put silicone around to seal it.
|
thanks guys.....i found the hole in the file wall your talking about D C 2
but thing is i found it right side of the battery right behind it.... but on the inside there's foam and plastic of some sort...should i just try to fish the wire through there? |
Yeah it's right behind/besides the battery. Just try to push it through there. You'll be fine.
|
thank you so much D C 2
will try it when the weather is a little warmer and let you know really appreciate it :) |
If your not confident or what ever

I so seriously cringed when I read that. I bet you didn't even use a grommet in the hole when you were done either. Treat drilling as an absolute last resort, but if you have to, make sure you do it right. |

no def. not going to drill a hole in the firewall just to put subs in....will find a way didnt look into it yet but will do when it gets a little warmer outside
|
Theres a soft rubber seal on the passenger side usually near the battery depending on your teg. Use an old car antenna or coat hanger to poke a hole, if need be depending on what guage size wire you have may have to take an exacto knife and cut a larger incision into the rubber gaucet. Poke the power wire through, then ground the negative wire to the challis. of the car in the trunk or on a seat belt bolt in the back. Run the remote wire from the aftermarket deck and also the RCA's. If you have a stock deck you need a high-low converter and to attach the remote wire to accessory.
|
im going to be installing a new system soon. I can't stand that future shop/best buy junk anymore lol
|
okay so initial plan was to just keep the shi**y sony deck and throw in the subs
but mind changed and grabbed a pioneer avic d3 with navi had it done two days ago... i did locate the hole and ran the wire through there and the rca and power were brought to the trunk through the passenger black plastic cover that holds the carpet and through the right side of the back seat... loving the setup its amazing and finally everything's pioneer now |
