it corrects camber. the lower your car sits, the more the top of the wheel goes to the center of the car and the less contact patch you have when your going in a straight line. however, if your turning and you have camber, you'll have more contact patch.
i installed a skunk2 pro kit last week. the only reason why i went with it was because my upper ball joints need replacing and they were LESS money than canadian tire oem style replacements.
sometimes people have problems with the bolts on the top of the ball joint hitting the shock towers and denting or even punching holes in them, especially if the springs are too soft. the skunk2 pro design has the bolts on the bottom, so there's more clearance. it cost a bit more than the original skunk2 camber kit (and all ones of similar design like blox, etc..), but the extra clearance and the top of the adjustment plate being totally flat gives you the extra piece of mind.
also, when i had my car apart, i noticed the inside of the fender was rubbing because the bare metal was fresh. i lowered my car about an inch recently and have +44 offset wheels. i fixed the camber slightly and eyeballed it (i just centered the ball joint on the plate). i have yet to get an alignment.
if your upper ball joints are good, don't waste your money, imo.
