Hope this isnt a repost...

My circular headlights have been foggy ever since I got them off the original owner. I have been living with it for a year and a half but everytime I look at other clean teg's I feel like crap =/

So how does everyone clean them? What product do you use?

 

I used the Meguiars PlasticX (or PlastiX)...makes them look like brand new and is if they are made of glass .

 

heres the step that i did...i used to work in a body shop and i can guarentee you and prove with pics that this is the best method:
1: Clean the headlights well
2: Sand with 500 grit until all major chips are out and including scratchs

3: same as above but with 800 grit
4: then proceed to using 1000 grit

5: 1500 grit taking out the rest of the major scratchs
6: take 3000 wet sanding pad with water and get out any scratch you see remaining.
7: finally take polishing putty or liquid if you will and polish them until they are crystal clear. this last step does not take long at all.

Good luck!!! and P.s if your nto hand sanding and using a DA go in circular motion and dont stay on one spot for too long!!!!
and this method is for plastic. haven't tried it on glass!!!

did anyone try this yet? if so, does it work well? I have a 96 ls integra, so will this work on the lights?

 

i tried this, it works well. get a buffer ready though for the last step...

 

so, do I use all wet sand grit paper? like the different grades of paper.

 

i used all wet sand... and heres the result

 

the driver's side headlights are clear, but the passenger's side are not so clear.

 

ya the passenger side is how dirty they originally were. the driver side is the result of sanding and buffing....
just a comparison and a demonstration of how well this method worked

 

oh, I didnt know you were doing the comparison. great post and good results. I still didnt did it yet. I am waiting till winter is over to do it.. Too cold outside. =(
